Community Writes Prompt-Vacation

Who doesn’t have a story about vacation? The best of em… the worst of em… the exhilaration… the mishaps. Tell us your tale. Or conjure one up.

From now through September, Community Writes, an online publication of the Hoffman Center for the Arts, is accepting contributions on the topic of “Vacation” from writers with ties to the north Oregon Coast.

The program is open to all – whether you are a published writer or not – and contributions will be published on a rolling basis on the Hoffman Center website, hoffmanarts.org. Contributors also will be offered an opportunity to read their work at periodic open mic events. Fiction, nonfiction, essay, memoir and poetry are all accepted, and there is a $5 fee per submission.

Submissions should not exceed 800 words, and should include an image, if possible. The writing must be inspired by the prompt designated for each quarter, though the title does not need to include the prompt topic.

The prompts for the remainder of 2022 are:

Third quarter (July, August, September) Vacation

Fourth quarter (October, November, December) Gratitude
