“Setting Intentions and Priorities for the New Year & New Decade”
presentation and discussion at the Art of Aging series

Art of Aging  | Art of Dying is a program of Hoffman Center for the Arts

In the poem, The Summer Day, Mary Oliver asks, “What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” It is a question worth asking repeatedly, no matter the season or age.

Here are some other questions to consider: What decisions can you make now that reflect your intentions and priorities, and will help lead to increased life satisfaction? How do we stay passionate about our lives as we age? What are the best parts of your life right now? What changes can we make that our future self will appreciate?

Tela Skinner will facilitate this Art of Aging session which will offer participants an opportunity to ponder values and dig deeper to understand more about what holds meaning throughout the aging process.

As a social science researcher, Tela interviewed hundreds of people in late life. She came to recognize the value of asking questions and digging deeper with each answer. Tela Skinner holds a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies/Gerontology. Her Master’s thesis on Gerotranscendence, a shift in perspective on the aging process, examined how we, as aging humans, can re-evaluate our place in the world and our natural progression towards maturation and wisdom.
