Applying the Lessons from the Blue Zones to Your Life

Learn the Nine Key Ways to Add Vibrant Years to Your Longevity

What Can the Blue Zones Teach You to Add Healthy Engaged Years to Your Life?

In 2004, Journalist and longevity expert Dan Buettner teamed up with National Geographic and the world’s best longevity researchers to identify pockets around the world where people live measurably longer and better. In these blue zones areas, they found that people reach age 100 at rates 10 times greater than in the United States.

After identifying five of the world’s blue zones, Dan and National Geographic took teams of scientists to each location to identify lifestyle characteristics that might explain longevity. They found that the lifestyles of all blue zones’ residents shared nine specific characteristics.

In this two-hour session, we’ll discuss the nine characteristics of the Blue Zones research as well as learn how the information has been applied to communities in the United States. Walk away with your own plan to apply the research to your life.

The group will be facilitated by Kathie Hightower, a longtime speaker and workshop leader, and member of the Art of Aging planning committee, who has led six Art of Aging sessions since we began.
