Book Event

Sheltering Poetry Reading
Sunday, July 26, 2020
3 p.m.
Registration is Free

Poets from the Intro to Poetry class, held in April, will read a selection of their works from the class’ poetry collection, Sheltering.

From the introduction by Emily Ransdell:

“For many in the North Coast writing community, the Hoffman Center for the Arts has long been a focal point for inspiration and growth. Through workshops, speakers, drop-in craft sessions and other programs, writers have found camaraderie and encouragement here.  Closing its doors during lockdown severed a creative lifeline.

But creative work is vital to our well-being. Art and music and language foster hope and positivity and help us cope with uncertainty. And as the eleven poets in this little anthology discovered, they can help us connect with one another.  Even via Zoom.”

Poets published in the collection are:  Katja Biesanz, Kate Grimm, Phyllis Mannan, Daria La Masney, Sue McGrath, Marcia Silver, Tela Skinner, Karen Small, Mark Scott Smith, Shirley West, and Vera Wildauer.  The collection was curated by Emily Ransdell, who also taught the class.

Space is limited to no more than 25 people to allow for social distancing.  Please wear a mask.

Books will be available for sale at the event for $10 each and proceeds will benefit the Writing Program at the Hoffman Center for the Arts.
