Collage Mandalas
Join lifelong mixed media artist MJ Davison in this guided collage workshop. You will create your own personal mandala for continued reference and reflection. Using collage as a direct medium, we will create rich and multilayered messages to self from our unconscious minds. Our time together will allow for two sessions of creating, with a snack break in between, and a final review and sharing of the collective experience. No prior experience required. All materials provided. Just bring your willingness to explore!
About MJ
MJ Davison is a Portland-based mixed media artist specializing in collage. She enjoys presenting the quietly powerful
mandala format to adults of all ages at venues in the PNW and SF Bay Area. Outside of teaching, MJ is a MARI (mandala assessment research instrument) practitioner, certified to apply this color and symbol system as a diagnostic tool.
As an active member of two regional collage collectives, MJ participates in their social events and juried calls for exhibition. She also organizes and curates the annual exhibit “Exquisite Community” based on “The Exquisite Corpse”, in honor of Kolaj Magazine for their World Collage Day each May. A full color, self-published, limited edition book commemorates the first five years of this project: “Exquisite Community, Every Body 2021-2025.”
Her artworks are in the Special Collections of SFMOMA, MoMA NYC, and The Victoria & Albert Museum, among other museums, universities, colleges, and private collections in North America.
