Featuring works by John R. Stahl

John R. Stahl’s love of the outdoors greatly influenced his art. Hours were spent outside painting simple, direct landscape watercolors and carving river rock into beautiful, elegant beasts and abstract forms. He needed the outside, the incredibly fresh, salt-sea air. Stahl was a Renaissance man, a modernist painter, waterfowl decoy carver, stone carver, watercolorist, mask maker, collage artist, carpenter, classical music enthusiast, dog lover, pipe smoking, French barrette wearing gentleman. He respected and honored the people and land around him. He lived honestly and left a powerful legacy of art. Select works from the artist’s estate will be featured in the Hoffman Gallery.
