Writing successful fiction first involves entering the “fictive dream” with creativity and imagination, and many of us are good at that. But how do we move a story to successful completion, and with luck, publication? The answer is to learn and apply solid, proven craft techniques to our writing, whether short or novel-length.

“It’s none of their business that you have to learn to write.
Let them think you were born that way.”

—Ernest Hemingway

Talent takes you so far and then you need some tools. In this class we’ll learn and practice how to weave together technique and the elements of story—character, setting, plot, conflict, theme—to create compelling and satisfying fiction.
