Plein Air Oil Painting with instructor Nancy Klos

This two-day workshop is perfect for the person who has always wanted to try getting outside to paint in response to nature and especially the ocean. You will be painting on location in Manzanita and the surrounds.

Previous painting experience in water-based media is helpful, drawing skills are very good for setting up successful paintings. Nancy will cover the basics of plein air design and composition, color selection and color theory, and paint application and techniques for both brush and palette knife.

All the oil paint and media for this workshop are included in the tuition so students can try painting with oil before buying. Students will need to bring a sketchbook, ink pens (fine and a medium point), easel, brushes and extra canvasses no larger than  8” x 10.”  Please contact Nancy Klos at [email protected] for additional information.

Nancy Klos has lived in the Northwest in Oregon since 1985. She lived with her family in Seattle in the 70s before moving to the Midwest. Nancy says: “My home and inspiration are here in our beautiful natural surroundings.” She began painting in oil after more than 30 years of using water-based media. She paints with Gamblin Artist Color Co. materials, which are non-toxic and can be used safely without the harmful effects of turpentine.
