Japanese Basket Knots | Rock Wrapping

these knot are tied on stones and are given as tokens of love, respect, friendship, community, unity, and for births or weddings.

3 basic knots are taught allowing time between each for students to experiment and create stones with the new knot. I find this is the best way to teach as it lets everyone’s imagination run wild.

Students will receive a kit which includes a gift pouch, needle and 10 additional yards of leather. A table full of wrapping materials ( leather, paper cord, cotton cord and hemp) and assorted embellishments will also be available, as well as nippers, awls and glue for each student to use and double sided tape for those who do not like crazy glue. Students can also bring small stones or embellishments they may want to include in their wrapping projects.

Stones are also provided, lots of stones. Students will make 6 to 8 stones per class.

Visiting artist Carrie Botto will be joining us at the Hoffman Center for an intensive weekend of weaving, wrapping, and beading from April 10th through the 12th. Please check the classes page for her other offerings.
