Learn the Weave with Pam Patrie
Come and join us for a unique weekend at the Hoffman Center where you will learn the fundamentals of tapestry art. Our workshop presenter, Pam Patrie, has 50 years of rich experience in the art of weaving and is eager to guide workshop participants through the fundamentals of the weaving process. Participants will learn and create on a ready-to-weave loom that has been prepared (warped) prior to the workshop. Five basic tapestry shapes will be taught that demonstrate the ease in creating an image.
No prior experience is necessary; all are welcome. All weaving materials will be provided.
Participants are encouraged to attend Pam’s lecture A Passion for the Weave: An Artist’s Journey with the Method of Traditional Tapestry on Friday late afternoon, December 8, prior to the weekend workshop. Starting with Pam’s travel to France in 1974, and a lifelong practice of production tapestry in Portland Oregon, her lecture will discuss the commissions and exhibited works as well as numerous artists and weavers who visited her studio over the 40 years she worked in Portland.
