Join us on the Winter Solstice for an all-ages experience to warm your hands and hearts. All community members are welcome to attend and celebrate the shortest day of the year.
At 3pm on the official start of Winter, we will begin at the Hoffman Center for the Arts with making your own paper lantern. Smaller children will need assistance from their parents for this craft, while older kids and adults will be able to construct their own paper lantern with ease from a pre-made kit.
As lanterns glow with flameless tealights, award-winning actor and our guest narrator, Liz Cole, will present winter-themed poems from Mary Oliver and Susan Cooper, accompanied by projected images.
The sound of bells will summon us outside with our paper lanterns to make our way down Laneda Avenue for a festive promenade at sunset to Cloud & Leaf Bookstore. We will be greeted by owner Holly Lorincz, along with hot chocolate and a cozy fireplace. Our Winter Solstice experience will end at Cloud & Leaf, or you are invited to linger longer and listen to music by Lucy Wild.
With support from our Youth Program, we are pleased to offer this Winter Solstice event free of charge.
