When is a Poem Done?

A four-week Poetry Intensive with Emily Ransdell

This four-week series will help writers at all experience levels learn to better evaluate their own poems, with the goal of sharper, more polished finished work. This will not be a generative workshop. Instead, we will discuss specific techniques for strengthening drafts already in progress, then give them a try as homework.

Writers who may be new to poetry or workshopping, will also have the option of participating in the discussion without submitting work for class critique. Even if you don’t yet have many poems in progress, you can still participate and learn. Everyone will come away with multiple ideas for improving their poems.

About the instructor: Emily Ransdell is a part-time resident of Manzanita with an MFA in Poetry. She co-leads the Manzanita Writers Series PoetryFest and is the founder of the popular Word & Image Project at the Hoffman Center. She has published widely.  Listen to Emily read samples of her work.
