Youth ages 9-13 are invited to create a bold and bright mixed media poster with collage artist, Lindsey Aarts. Using paint, ink, paper, scissors, and glue, students will learn foundational art principles and techniques then use them to make large 18″x24″ statement pieces to display at home or show off to friends. All materials are provided for this three hour creative blitz! Students should dress to get messy and bring a snack (no peanuts/nuts please).
About Lindsey
Lindsey Aarts is an artist based in Astoria, Oregon. In her practice, Lindsey uses watercolor illustration and mixed media collage to create colorful imagery rooted in stories, history, and the natural landscape. She enjoys using this visual language to create a sense of place for the viewer and always looks forward to exploring new and interesting locales on Oregon’s coast.
Lindsey’s work has been shown regionally at RiverSea Gallery, Royal Nebeker Art Gallery, and Hoffman Center for the Arts. In 2022, she was chosen by Astoria Visual Arts as one of two artists-in-residence. When not in her studio, Lindsey spends time teaching art workshops and classes in watercolor and collage.
