Arguably it’s beneath our horticultural standards to offer a little purple aster whose parentage is unknown to us but hey, it’s easy, it flowers late, and it spreads like freckles in the sun. Doesn’t respond to sun screen but easy to just dig up and pass over the garden fence.

We can't get enough of this NZ iris relative with its ever-orange blades of foliage that brighten in sun. Forms little colony clusters but never enough to suit our appetite. Deliciously bright little white flowers on wiry stems.

Why We Like It
Described as "one of the very best landscape shrubs for Western Oregon," our 'Sunset' has never had a bad day. Simply embarrassing how easy it is to please, and how lovely the payoff: a densely rounded 4x6 shrub with lovely red new growth that's easy to integrate into any landscape as long as the soil's not too good and there's no irrigation. What a find! We’re crazy about this hard to find, incredibly handsome little shrub from Argentina that loves the coast.
