Asian Floral Design

The Hoffman Center for the Arts will be presenting a series of Asian floral design workshops this summer, beginning with an introductory lecture and workshop on June 9.

At the first session, Thang Ngo will present an overview of Asian floral design including historical context, an explanation of different styles of flower arrangement, a review of the basic tools and techniques, recommendations for sourcing materials, and how to use everyday containers to display arrangements while maintaining the desired aesthetic. The talk will be followed by the hands-on portion of the workshop in which participants will design a simple flower arrangement.

Each subsequent workshop in the series will concentrate on a particular style of arrangement: upright, slanted, cascade, and freestyle.
