About the Instructor
Tara Spires-Bell discovered ceramics in 2014 when her mother passed away from cancer. She wanted to make an urn for her and soon fell in love with everything about pottery. She says she likes to think that her mother brought her to this creative outlet. She learned the basics from the Hoffman Center and deepened pottery skills in a work exchange with Ken at Horseshoe Gallery in June Lake, California.

She enjoys creating pottery that highlights the natural color of the clay body alongside vibrant glazes. Her current work is inspired by the PNW coastal palette, especially the shades of the ocean, forest, and sky. She also has a special fondness for the mushrooms, mosses, and fungi that grow and spore along the forest floor.
