Youth Workshop: Visual Arts
Explore the power of mindfulness and hands-on creativity in this Meditative Print Workshop for Teens! Learn how guided visualization meditation can spark creative ideas, and explore abstract drawing to translate these ideas onto paper. We will introduce the art of Tetrapak printing—a sustainable printmaking technique using upcycled materials—teaching participants how to turn their drawings into unique prints by experimenting with shapes, textures, and ink. This workshop encourages creative exploration through mindfulness, and cultivates an interest in both new & sustainable and traditional print-making techniques. No prior experience is needed!

About the Instructors
James Lewis Tucker holds a BFA in Printmaking from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. In 2013, he founded
The Aesthetic Union, a letterpress print shop and gallery in San Francisco’s Mission District that quickly became a vital hub for art, collaboration, and the city’s creative community. Tucker’s work, which has long traversed the realms of printmaking, design, and poetry, was deeply intertwined with the cultural fabric of San Francisco for over a decade. In 2023, after selling the shop to his former employees, he relocated to Sonoma County, where he continues to pursue his artistic practice. In addition to leading mindfulness workshops and Zen meditation groups, Tucker teaches letterpress workshops at North Bay Letterpress Arts, where he also serves on the board.
He is renowned for his extensive catalog of woodblock print landscapes and his published poetry books, further solidifying his dual practice as an artist and writer.

Jessica Harrison is a landscape oil painter and wood carver from Marin, California, with a deep-rooted passion for creativity and mindfulness. With experience in mindfulness education, Jessica has led creative visualization workshops that blend artistic expression with meditative practice. Actively engaged in both artistic and spiritual communities in California, Jessica fosters a nurturing space where participants can explore self-expression, presence, and inner stillness through art.
