Over the past 20 years, Hoffman Center for the Arts has made great strides growing into a community cultural organization with a strong regional reputation. None of it could have happened without the donations of those who believe in the power of the arts.
Among our hundreds of donors are those who give monthly. We call this group our Art Advocates because they provide the reliable resources that strengthen Hoffman’s efforts, allowing us to stretch and try new things, which is so important for growth.
During the month of May, Hoffman Center is seeking 10 new members of the Art Advocates and we invite you to join! Here is an example of the kinds of opportunities we can act on with your monthly support:
When the opportunity arose this past March to host renowned poet Major Jackson, it was an easy yes. Why? Thanks to our monthly Art Advocate donors, Hoffman staff had the resources to pivot and take advantage of this rare opportunity. We were grateful to host Major for a reading and workshop, and also to provide a special occasion beforehand for local writers and teachers to meet Major over an intimate dinner. Read what Logan Garner, local poet and winner of the Neahkahnie Mountain Poetry Prize, had to say about that extraordinary event…
“What an evening! Dinner with members of the Hoffman Center for the Arts, area writers and visiting poet Major Jackson. I had to pinch myself at his reading later on, having just had the most delicious food, the warmest conversation, and so much vibrant energy in the room. I can’t think of any time like this, wherein I get to have a chat with someone I so admire and respect, and in such an intimate setting. It was an amazing gift and opportunity, one I will always treasure.”
