Somatic Art Exploration
An Invitation for Intuitive Art Making

Join Instructor Jenny Siegel as she guides students through the process of intuitive art making. The afternoon will begin with gentle somatic movement. This will be done standing and sitting in a chair. This offers an opportunity to release body tension and experience a felt-sense of spaciousness. This exploration supports us in connecting with our innate creative impulses. Students will then explore with color, mark-making, and a variety of mediums, carrying a creative thread from the somatic movement practice. Art materials, guidance, space to play, and snacks will be provided. All levels of experience are welcome. Students are asked to bring their own blanket and pillow.

Instructor biography
Jenny Siegel is a mixed media artist living in Portland and part time in Neahkahnie Beach. Her art making is inspired by forms found in nature and is a sensory exploration, allowing curiosity and spaciousness to inform her process. Jenny’s background in art/design and healing work drew her to a dedicated creative and somatic (sensory/body awareness) practice. Somatic Art Exploration rose out of her own experience in her studio and grew into sharing it with groups. She currently teaches intuitive art making and somatic exploration classes monthly in the Portland area.
